I’m fascinated with liquid photography. But, until this project I had shot everything with Speedlights. This shoot was the first attempt with studio monolights.
If I was fascinated before, I’m obsessed now. The overall goal was to see if I could freeze liquid splashes of ice cubes with enough light from one monolight with a max 10k flash duration (my others don’t have a fast enough flash duration). I could, with room to spare. And now I’ll be buying some more fast lights.
Multiple photos with different lenses, compositions, and settings. The entire point of this shoot was experimental. But the resulting images have drawn me in. The metallic look of the water, frozen in time is mesmerizing. Every single splash take was different. The opportunities are endless.
